about
I wrote this song to the isolated drums of Willow's "Wait A Minute!". Seriously. I wanted to write a pure pop song and I love everything about Willow's track, a perfect pop-song to my ears.
I had the isolated drums in my headphones while I composed the melody through the iPhone. It was a different way of working but I loved it.
Chris pulled out the stops on the guitar solo on the end, and the drums are Tony Thompson-like, which is probably one of the best compliments I can give a drummer.
There is one lyrical no-no that I would change but, again, this one's for the feet.
lyrics
AGAIN
So I’m walking with my friends, trying to see how all this ends
Get back on my feet again
And the people rushing by, laughing, singing to the sky
Searching for your face again
But I know deep in my heart that there’s really not a chance
Of ever seeing you again
‘Cos you have gone from here just as quick as you appeared
I’m back here on the floor again
Baby, I don’t know
Baby, I don’t know what’s right or wrong
Baby, I just know
Baby, I just know the blues play on
And my friends are here beside me, all just say I’ve got to get free
Fly up to the sun again
It doesn’t matter what they say ‘cos the night still rules my day
Want to see your smile again
And the idea that this place remains a happy space
Like a joke from Bad Comedian
‘Cos you have gone from here just as quick as you appeared
I’m back here on the floor again
Baby, I don’t know
Baby, I don’t know what’s right or wrong
Baby, I just know
Baby, I just know the blues play on
And I fall back down every time I get back up
And I don’t know what to do, I just give up
And we’re walking in the city, the night comes down
I’m dancing to the beat again
And last night we caused a riot and I don’t really know why
But I’m dancing to the beat again
Even though the night outside with the stars shining bright
My soul is in the darkest place
‘Cos now that you are gone, don’t know how I’m moving on
But I’m dancing to the beat again
Baby, I don’t know
Baby, I don’t know what’s right or wrong
Baby, I just know
Baby, I just know the blues play on
Now that you are gone
The world’s alive but I don’t really care
‘Cos though I’m moving on, this place is dark because you are not here

Well gosh, Boo. That really is an album!
The first time through was wonder and delight. Now it’s just a matter of installing it into my DNA. And so repeat play is engaged. You’ve done it again! warren wigutow
Sally Spitz (ex-French Vanilla) goes for a fully-formed dance-pop and electronic sound on her buoyant debut solo LP. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 25, 2022
Bouncy, jangly power pop with a slash of acidic shadow, as the very best twee always has. From Boston, they met at band camp (not Bandcamp). Bandcamp New & Notable Jul 2, 2019
The whole album is fantastic not a single song that I don’t love, but mostly “she’ll never be me”, and the voice of Emma is angelic ❤️❤️ mahmoud_elsayed
